I’m officially a busy on-the-go mom

Saturday, August 20th, 2005

Drama and dance class registration was yesterday. AnnaBeth has Intro I dance class on Mondays, Amie got her scholorship again and has Ballet I class on Wednesdays and James has Acting for K-2nd grade on Fridays. Dance classes begin after Labor Day. Drama classes begin the week after that. I don’t even want to know what it’s going to be like once all of my kids are into things. Next year, I’m hoping to get Christine into Drama also, but she’ll be in the same class as James if he takes it again, so that won’t make it any harder that year. He is excited. The first 10 week session is just regular acting techniques. The second session is only 5 weeks and I didn’t sign him up for that one. The third session is 10 weeks and is on puppet making and technique. That’s the one he’s really looking forward to. I asked him if he just wanted that one and not the first, but he said he wanted both. AnnaBeth kind of needs something like this to be able to get out with other girls her age. She’s a sweet dainty little thing and the only other kids in her Sunday School class are rough and rowdy boys. Sometimes they upset her and she joins Noelle in the younger class until she’s settled down and ready to join her class again. I think she’ll enjoy being in a class with lots of other kids her age. Most are girls, but there are a many parents that put their sons in the Intro classes also.

Anyway, this is going to make dinner-making kind of hard for the next school year, but I know the kids will all enjoy it.

I’m a BABY!!

Friday, August 19th, 2005

AnnaBeth says that about once a day. I’ll say something about how well she’s doing with going to the potty. (She’s dry almost everyday, not night yet though.) Or sometimes I’ll say something about her helping me do the dishes or laundry or whatever I’m working on at the time. I’ll tell her she’s getting to be such a big girl and she does not like that one bit. She said the other day that she’s always going to be a baby. It’s so funny when she says that because she’s so serious about it. I have to keep a straight face, but I want to laugh. She’s getting “new” used clothes today and she’ll like that as long as I don’t say anything about them being big girl clothes. She’s outgrown some of her 2T stuff and Jeremy’s mom is picking up some play dresses for her that are 3T.

Hmm, not sure where I’m going with this post. I guess I’m just amused at my silly daughter who doesn’t want to admit she’s growing up even though she enjoys doing the big kid things she can do.

Oh, Jeremy’s mom is picking up some stuff for Noelle today as well. She needs 18 mo clothes. I can’t believe how fast my children are growing and they are so small for their age.

Prayers

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

Please pray for my friend, Dana. She’s having major surgery on Monday, the 29th. She’s mostly worried about her 1 yr old daughter during this time. It’ll be the longest she’ll be in the care of someone else (multiple someones, in this case) and that’s not easy on a Mom’s mind as many of you other mothers know.

Scavenger hunt!

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Last night, Jeremy and I worked on clues to a scavenger hunt for the youth. It was a lot of fun. I have to get there early tonight and put the clues in place. Because I know a few of them come here to read, I’m not going to post any of the clues until later. I’d like to see if you could figure a few of them out. Also, I’m going to bring some Bible Trivia to play and see how they do with that. Prizes for these are some school supplies. This is kind of our “Back to School” party for them. Most of them start back tomorrow.

Edit: I think they had a good time. We didn’t have many kids there tonight, but we had fun. I blew up some little balloons for the party and one of the boys stayed late and entertained my kids by popping all of them while I was cleaning up. James didn’t mind picking up all those pieces thankfully.

Okay, here are two of the hints I did tonight. Where do you think they meant? 1.) Matthew 25:37 – Our church’s ministry for this. 2.) II Chronicles 21:18 – He must have spent much time in this room.

I’ll give the answers in a few days.

Dentist appointments

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

Amie, James, and Christine had their bi-annual appointment this afternoon. Good reports. AnnaBeth and I are going in October. It will be her first appointment ever. I’m sure she’ll do fine. We need to know about one tooth that was bumped on the front stairs a few months ago. It’s turned slightly brown. I know I won’t fair as well as her. I have one broken tooth that I need taken out sometime. Plus, I’m sure there is at least one cavity. Oh well, at least they’ll get taken care of. I haven’t been to a dentist since I was in college. I shouldn’t have waited so long. It’s my own fault.

Well, Saturday was good and bad

Monday, August 15th, 2005

Jeremy and I were up at 6 am and left the house by 6:15. We’d had everything all set out so it didn’t take long to get ready. We left with all the youth from the church at 7 am and got to Six Flags about 10:30. If you want to read all about it… well, you can, but I’m warning you now that it’s long. (more…)

Off we go!

Jeremy and I are off with the youth today. See you later!

Random Kid things

Friday, August 12th, 2005

I found a great way for Noelle to eat her cereal and get her milk intake without me sitting there spooning it for her, plus it gives her good spoon practice… I mix her cereal in yogurt. She loves it. Amie and Christine like it too, but Christine adds less yogurt and puts a little milk in to make it more fluid for her. I used to give Noelle a cup of milk with a bowl of dry cereal, but she prefers juice in the morning. Now she gets her juice and still has some milk too.

My kids are into blocking a doorway and asking for a password to get through. When they started it, I told them I was Mom and didn’t need passwords and they let me through everytime. Now, they’ve started wanting me to say it. I just tickle them and usually make it through pretty easily. Oh, by the way, the password is the spanish word for open… abra, which is what Dora the Explorer has to say to open most things in her adventures.

James loves playing the Nintendo gamecube. He is getting pretty good at it. I don’t let him play very much and it is one of the first things he’s grounded from if he needs some disciplining since he enjoys it so much. I want to know of some children’s games out there and your opinions of them. We have Sonic Mega Collection and Super Monkey Ball 2. Both of those are lots of fun for him, but I get bored hearing the neverending, neverchanging music and want some other things for him too. I plan on getting him a new game either for Christmas or his birthday. Any suggestions, any warnings, any you just think are stupid games? I’m wanting real people’s opinions and not have to rely on the web for all my info. (Wait a minute, this is still the web. LOL)

Another tooth

Thursday, August 11th, 2005

These teeth of Noelle’s are taking awhile to get here. She got her other top front tooth, so now she has all four front teeth on top and only two on bottom, plus one top 1 yr molar. So at almost 20 months, she’s only got 7 teeth. The other top 1 yr molar is almost out. At this rate, she’ll be almost 4 when she finally has all her baby teeth in.

Things I love about… (part 2)

Wednesday, August 10th, 2005

my husband!

He loves me. He is able to fix my computer. He gives really good back and foot rubs. He kisses me before work. He kisses all his daughters before he leaves for work. He hugs his son before he leaves for work. He listens while I talk about whatever I feel like talking about. He tells me about what he does at work. He tries to help get AnnaBeth and Noelle dressed for church on Sunday mornings. He gives great hugs. He has the most handsome chocolate colored eyes. Sometimes, he comes up behind me when I’m making dinner and just holds me. I can tell him anything. He’s my best friend. He challenges me to become a better Christian. He is willing to discuss whatever I’m reading in my Bible. He doesn’t mind a date being just sitting at a restaurant or just driving around while we talk about everything and reconnect. He’s a true gentleman. He married me 9 years ago today!
