Very busy this week.

Monday, November 21st, 2005

I’m going to be fixing Thanksgiving dinner for 12 people. Tomorrow, I’m fixing pumpkin pies. On Wednesday, I’ll fix an apple pie, a chocolate pie, and maybe a chocolate cheesecake if I’m feeling ambitious enough. Thursday is the rest of the meal. Jeremy will be helping me a lot on Thursday which will be nice. I may fix one of the other pies on Tuesday since the pumpkin pies aren’t too hard to make.

SO, if I’m not around much the next few days… you’ll know why. I may pop on once or twice if any of my kids say or do something funny.

Popping on to tell you…

“I can’t whistle, I must be broken!” – AnnaBeth

Jeremy’s doing a lot of work on the computer and this maybe the only time I get to post something this weekend.

Okay, here is James’s list.

It’s all Lego stuff.

Any of the Bionicles action figures

From Knights Kingdom, the castle and King Matthias

From their Star Wars collection, the smaller and easier version of the Millenium Falcon, a Jedi Star Fighter, a Rebel Snowspeeder, and an X-fighter that has figures of Luke, R2D2, and Yoda.

And last, the Soccer Championship Challenge II

Actually, I think any regular Lego set will be great with him. He has a few, but he doesn’t have very many yet.

Whoa… that cold front hit hard

We had some bad thunderstorms last night, but thankfully the tornadoes stayed away. Unfortunately, I’m not sure where all the winter coats are for us and the temps aren’t supposed to get above 40* today. Brrrrr. I’m going out to the storage room behind the garage later to check and see if I can find them. Amie and James have coats in here. James bought his at a yard sale this summer and it just never got put away and Amie’s came from my cousin who is only a few years older about 2 weeks ago. I was VERY happy to get it because I won’t have to buy one for her now. I’m going to check out there for mine, which is there, and for the younger three girls. Christine will probably wear James or Amie’s old one, which is also back there. I hope we still have something in there for the younger two.

By the way, the older kids are making Christmas lists and James has asked that I post his, so I may do that later. I told him not to expect anything off of it though. Not sure why he wants me to post it. I already have his and it isn’t anything he picked out.

Planned to write this yesterday, but…

you know how wild kids get once they’re feeling better. It’s like they have to use up all the energy they didn’t have when they were sick. It was a mad house here.

Anyway, yesterday was Jeremy’s 30th birthday! Now he’s as old as me. LOL I love joking about the small difference that I’m a month and a half older. I got him a bag of gummy bears, a game for our gamecube, and a Bing Crosby Christmas CD. We both love listening to Bing Crosby and last year I went looking for Christmas music a little too late… all the CDs with JUST him were sold out. There were others with him singing with other people, but we were wanting just him. Of course, if any of those CDs had been with the lady who stars with him on White Christmas, than I would have bought it. I love her voice with his… *sigh* beautiful. Oops, off chasing bunnies. Anyway, the kids had fun with him. He had to travel a ways for work so he was gone longer than usual. Around noon, they all begged to call him. They wanted to sing to him, individually. I convinced them to all sing together. SO, he got a fun phone call with four kids singing/shouting Happy Birthday to him. AnnaBeth did a little post “Happy Birthday to you” to it which he got a kick out of. (Only four kids, because I can’t get Noelle to do anything on the phone yet.) He got home just before we came back from AnnaBeth’s dance class, so when we arrived, the kids all waited on porch until they were all there and ready. THEN, they rushed into the house yelling at the tops of their lungs, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY!!” He said they really helped make the day special.

Oh, well.

So much for hoping I’d get to go to church. I wasn’t feeling well at all today. I woke up at 6 am with an upset stomach and lower abdomen. I downed about 4 doses of Pepto Bismol to keep my stomach somewhat settled, so I didn’t have to run to the bathroom. Everything finally settled enough to eat lunch and then nap around 1 and I was out for a good 3 hours. I feel much better now, except for a headache. I’m going to take some meds to get rid of the pain and hopefully get some good sleep.

They’re all better

Christine and I got out yesterday for a little while since Jeremy was home and the other four just wanted to rest. I took her to get new shoes. She’s needed them for a few weeks. I gave her a choice of a few that were in our price range that didn’t have any certain affiliation with dolls. (You know which dolls I’m talking about… think about what so many people think ALL little girls like playing with.) She picked out a pair with shiny silver stripes on the sides and silver sparkles in the laces. I was surprised. She usually picks out the ones with as much pink on them as possible.

We got back just after lunch time and I did a little cleaning and then crashed into bed about 3:00. I left it for a little while to do the dishes after dinner and just got up and out for this day. I didn’t sleep a lot while the kids were still awake, but at least I got some rest. I’m still feeling tired, but I’ll make it today.

Grocery shopping today. Not sure what else or who will be going with us and who will be staying home with Jeremy’s mom. As long as I’m okay for church tomorrow, I’ll be happy. I do NOT want to get that nasty bug. My chapped hands will speak for all the hand washing and stuff I did the last 4 days to try and keep myself and Grandma Anna from getting sick.

Thanks for thinking of me.

I’m VERY, VERY tired!

I got about an hour of sleep before Amie woke me up. Then another hour before James woke me up and that’s when I posted so early this morning, so I think I might have gotten about half an hour of sleep in there. I had JUST gotten finished getting the laundry started on regular wash, turned off the light, and closed my eyes when I heard it again from James. Up I get to help him and mop the kitchen floor. All the commotion woke Noelle up and she needed me to comfort her before she was ready to get back to sleep. I got about 45 more minutes of sleep before he woke me up again and I again had to mop the floor. (No big deal though. Much better than scrubbing carpet.) I put his first blanket in the dryer because he had accidently dragged his other one into the kitchen with him. Get maybe another hour or hour and a half of sleep before he was at it again. Another mopping. Get blanket out of dryer and hand it to him. Not long after getting into bed this time, Jeremy’s alarm goes off. He’s not feeling his best, but gets up and goes to work because he wants to make sure everything is taken care of there. No more rest after that, the girls were waking up for the day. Jeremy is home again after making sure the office is okay and sleeping while I keep an eye on the kids. James seems to be feeling better, though he’s not up and running. Amie is still kind of worn out and fell asleep. I’ll make it for a little while and then I’ll crash about naptime, I think. Either that or I’ll pump myself full of Dr. Pepper and be a very silly Mommy by the time bedtime comes.

There’s nothing like waking to the sound of…

your child getting sick. Unless, of course, it’s the sound of TWO children getting sick. On Tuesday, Christine was sick and required me to clean the carpet once and the couch once. Well, okay, so I didn’t clean the couch. Jeremy was sweet enough to help me out with that. I was holding my new dulcimer out of her way at the time. Thursday morning, early, I wake to AnnaBeth and Amie both crying. Now, AnnaBeth sometimes cries when she wakes up if she’s not quite ready to be awake, but it’s unusual for Amie to cry. I found out not much later that they were both sick. Fast forward past yucky stuff, two loads of laundry, scrubbing of carpet, cleaning off bunkbeds, and lots of spraying of Lysol. Now it’s VERY early on Friday morning (click on comments and in the small print right under my post, it gives the time I wrote this in EST. Take an hour earlier and you have my time CST. *edit: found that it didn’t switch the time back an hour so take two hours off and you have the time I posted. I’ve since switched it to the time zone I’m in.) and Amie woke up to make me clean up the side of the bunkbed again. The hitch this time is… James decided to join in too. Noelle has woken up and coughed and sounded like she was trying to make me clean up her crib, but nothing came out. (insert sigh of relief here.) I have yet another load of laundry in the washer to pre-wash, then wash. (hence, the post to take up time while pre-washing, otherwise I’d be in bed trying to get back to sleep.) I’m not waking Jeremy to ask for help. He mentioned that he wasn’t feeling well when he went to sleep. He said he thinks it’s his sinuses, but he’s got the same symptoms of the kids, so I’m not taking any chances. (Stomach ache, that’s all… no fever, no headache, nothing but a stomach ache) He didn’t eat any dinner though, so I’m hoping he’ll be fine throughout the night. Well, I’m off to check the washer. I’ll talk to you all later and hopefully at a more decent time.

Oh, by the way…
