Prideful

Sunday, January 8th, 2006

I’m puffed up with pride over the little hat that I crocheted for Noelle’s baby doll. I got a picture of it on baby with Jeremy’s mom’s camera and will post it once she e-mails it to me.

Hmmm, pride goeth before a fall… I wonder, will my next crochet project fail miserably. LOL

Too much too soon after coming home

I felt awful yesterday. I started having a headache on Sunday, a few hours after morning church. Some Aleve helped and I was okay until Monday morning (when Christine got sick in my last post.) I thought at first that the headache I was having that day and on Tuesday was just from lack of sleep. On Tuesday night (or Wednesday morning in reality,) I woke at 2 am with a horrible stomach ache. Not sure what all was going on, since the headache and that were my only symptoms. It kept me up until 4 am. I got a little more sleep before the kids woke me at 7:30 am. Thankfully, Amie and James are quite capable of getting breakfast (cereal and milk) and lunch (sandwiches) while I watched from the couch. They played quietly in the living room, where Grandma Anna stays, during naptime and I slept the full 3 hours with the younger kids. Jeremy’s dad was kind enough to fix hot dogs for their dinner even though he had to get to church to lead Wednesday night Bible Study. I was very grateful. They used paper plates and cups, so the only dish we had to worry about was Noelle’s sippy cup. I slept ALL night last night and am feeling better. My headache is subsiding slowly today and I’ve got no more stomach pain.

Because of all this sickness, I’m so behind on doing after-Christmas stuff, so I’ve been extra busy today. I’ve done two loads of laundry, gone through two of the kids drawers to get rid of some old clothes to have room to put in the new ones, and re-organized the bathroom cabinet because everything we took for our trip had been just stuffed in or left on the sink’s counter and the cabinet door wasn’t closing completely. Very tempting for a little two year old. I still have three kids’ drawers to go through, the toy box to tackle, as well as another load or two of laundry and some hemming for Amie’s skirt and a pair of AnnaBeth’s pants. Maybe the weekend will give me the time to finish all these things.

Ok, Ok, the Rest of Our Vacation

On Dec. 28 and 29, my Mom was sick and my Dad was working. We decided to drive around a bit. The first day, we drove down to Maggie Valley and stopped at a store that sells lots of stuff made by the Cherokee. James found a nice bow and arrow set with carrier that he bought. It’s much better made than the toy sets you find in regular toy stores. After leaving the store, we took a rural highway and just followed it awhile. It was nice to just look around at the scenery. The next day, we took a drive up to Asheville. We drove on 240 all around it. Just before getting back to 40, we stopped at a book store so Jeremy could get a book to read on the drive home. If I’d known how to get around inside Asheville, I would have taken him to Wall street and we could have looked around the stores there. (I love window shopping… or wishful shopping as I call it.)

We drove home on the 30th after lunch. My Dad took off the morning and we sat and just talked for a little bit before lunch and after packing up the van. We didn’t get home until almost midnight. Noelle had a hard time going back to sleep once we got here, so I didn’t get to bed until about 1 am. On Saturday, the kids got their presents from Jeremy’s parents and Jeremy and I got the presents from his family exchange. (Jason, thanks for the Louisa May Alcott books. I’ve never read “An Old Fashioned Girl” before and I’m really enjoying it. Andrew, Jeremy’s worn his hat everyday. He looks so handsome in it, especially with the goatee he’s got right now.) As it was New Year’s Eve, I stayed up kind of late. I watched a movie until midnight. About quarter til, Noelle woke up. She was having an allergic reaction to something, I think. She was itching all over her body and her upper lip was a little bit swollen. I gave her some anti-histamine and she was fine after half an hour thankfully. She didn’t really fall back to sleep until 2 am, so I was up until then as well. On Sunday night, we’re not sure what woke her up, but she kept us up again until midnight, so I was wiped out yesterday morning. What happened then didn’t help… Christine got sick at 6 am. Up out of bed, stripping the sheets off and doing laundry when I’m that tired was not fun. The kids found quite quickly that they better not mess with Mommy because she wasn’t able to handle much at that time. I made ALL of them take a nap and I laid down as well. Ah… sleep. Noelle woke up after an hour, but Jeremy’s mom took her so I could sleep a little longer. No one woke up last night, so I got an okay night’s sleep and am feeling much better today.

Anyway, now you’ve caught up with what we were up to.

Update from my sister Jill

Monday, January 2nd, 2006

We had a nice Christmas. We did not go anywhere this year. We celebrated with Rob’s family. Tabitha (2 and a half years old) made a birthday cake for Jesus with Grandma (on Christmas eve) and then on Christmas we celebrated His birthday. Tabitha was looking so forward to it. We gathered up several of the old toys to get rid of to make room for new ones. We have too many toys as it is.

For the new year, Rob and I slept while the new year rolled in. No parties this year, but the children are over tired anyway. We have been busy enough. We did spend new year’s day with Rob’s extended family. It was fun. Tabitha is getting to know the cousins better and is old enough to interact and play with them. Rob and I enjoyed time with the family as well.

Naomi is doing well. She is growing fast. She is six months now. She sits up on her own and will be on the move soon. She is beginning to scoot backwards, and just starting to get her tummy off of the floor.

Today Tabitha had gymnastics. We are excited, we found the place where she will be going. We really liked this gym and the coach, and Tabitha really liked it. It was a nice day to go because daddy and grandma were both off of work so they were able to go as well.

Happy New Year!!

I hope you all are doing well and I pray that God blesses 2006 for you.

Amie did a good job singing with me this morning. She’s got a pretty little voice.

On the way home, we were singing, “Rejoice in the Lord Always.” After singing it a few times, James said, “Let’s do it again and this time, let’s sing in a round.” Christine piped up, “Yeah, with BACON!”

Don’t worry. Update is coming. I’m just so tired from unpacking and finding places for all the new things yesterday that I’m going to go lay down and rest some now.
