War on Thumb Sucking… Day 4

Thumbs 0 – Mavala 7

I know of at least 7 times one of the girls have tried to put her thumb (or a finger in AnnaBeth’s case) into her mouth. AnnaBeth cries because she hates that taste in her mouth. Amie goes running to get some water to wash her mouth out. Christine just sits there with a horrible look on her face. I check them each night, but haven’t seen anything in their mouths.

So far, so good!

Colds, colds, colds

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

Well, the cold that AnnaBeth and Noelle had is passing through the family. The other kids have it now. Guess how long a 4 oz bottle of Dimatapp lasts with 5 kids needing it twice a day?

Christine sounds awful. It has activated her asthma, so I’ve got her taking her steroid inhaler in the morning and doing albuteral treatments with the nebulizer twice a day. Thankfully she can sit and hold the nebulizer mask herself now and I don’t have to sit there making sure she has it on right. I really need a new one. The one I have is infant/toddler size and isn’t quite fitting Christine’s face very well, but it works okay, so I’ll stick with it until I can get the new one.

I’ve got this cold too, but it doesn’t seem to be hitting me quite as hard as the kids and I hope it stays like this.

Oh, by the way, the answer to the question I asked… a 4 oz bottle lasts 2 and a half days.

War on Thumb Sucking… Day 2

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

I haven’t found a single thumb in anyone’s mouth yet and all three fell asleep just fine last night. They really don’t like the taste of that Mavala stuff. We’ll reapply the stuff tomorrow and continue to apply it every other day like it says for about 2 or 3 weeks. I need to make sure Amie and Christine don’t relapse. I’m sure AnnaBeth will be done with it in a week or two.
