Wrap Her In Bubbles

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

AnnaBeth, my accident prone child, has had another fall. We went to Fazoli’s yesterday. As we were headed to our table, she started running. I (being Mommy) cried out to stop running. She didn’t. She hit a waitress at a table with her arm which flipped her off her feet and around a few times. She landed face-down under a table, with it’s metal foot right across her face just above her eyes and nose. She didn’t feel like eating after that. We all quickly ate so we could go home, but I had to get some flea stuff for the cats at Wal-mart first. I just hopped out of the van to run in by myself because we didn’t want to take AnnaBeth in because she didn’t stop crying and complaining of her head. While I was walking back to the van, Jeremy called me to let me know she was throwing up. The hospital was close, so we decided to go ahead and take her. We got in, did the paperwork, saw a nurse, saw the doctor twice, had a CAT scan, got the results, and were out in TWO HOURS! I’ve never been in and out of a hospital emergancy room that quickly. Anyway, she has a concussion and we have to keep her quiet. The hard part is keeping all the other kids settled down so she doesn’t get all excited and active.

News From St. Louis

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

I called my sister today when I found out about the power outages. Her power came on this morning. One of the first areas to be fixed. They live in North County and it apparently got some of the easier part of the storm. Some of the branches on the big tree over their house came off and one punched a hole in their roof. Rob thinks he can fix it and he can probably get it done before anyone else will because the hole is small and probably low priority right now. A friend of hers came over until their electricity was turned on, so she had company for a while. Her church is down where the storm was worse and they were all crowded in the lower hallways Wednesday night singing away. She said driving home was hard with no stop lights anywhere and tree branches sometimes blocking parts of the road.

I’m just glad she and her family is okay.

Andrew Read is stuck in St. Louis right now as well and he told about his experience as well.

EDIT on Sat. evening: A second storm took out their power again. It is still out. They are staying at a friend’s house.

Reminder To Me…

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Christine has a cavity.  The dentist office told me to call on August first to set up an appointment for her in September.  She’s had this cavity for at least a year since we started going to this dentist.  Sean, can you answer me as to why they waited until now to take care of it?  They said it is almost to the nerve now, so it needs taken care of and she’ll need a laughing gas because it might be painful.  Couldn’t they have taken care of it before it got this bad?  She has a pre-rinse, brushes, and a post-rinse.  (She likes to rinse.)  So I know it isn’t from lack of trying on her part.  Oh well, too late to worry.  Now just to get it taken care of.

Dentist appointments

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

I forgot all about dentist appointments for my oldest three.  The office called yesterday to let me know and I told them to take Amie off since she’s out of town, but that I’d bring James and Christine down.  I wish there was one a little closer.  This one is 45 miles away.

Here We Go Again!

Potty Training! Kind of sad, really. She’s my baby. I’m not really trying hard, but going slow and easy. She’s not ready to be out of diapers yet, but she is starting to go on the potty sometimes.

It got close to a hundred degrees with humidity here the last four days or so and our air conditioning needed to be recharged (got that done yesterday.) Anyway, it was around 83* in our house during those days and she got a diaper rash from the heat. To help her, I took her diaper off and put her little training toilet in a convenient place for her to get to easily. Yesterday, she got a look on her face and ran and got a diaper and wanted me to put it on. I had her sit on the pot while I v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y got her diaper ready. She wet a little in it, but still was wanting her diaper on soon. I told her to just keep sitting there for a minute longer and that the potty was for that stuff. She finally let it out and had quite a bit in there. That must be one big bladder for such a little girl. She was proud of herself. She still wanted her diaper on, so I went ahead and put it on after that. Today, she did the same thing. Ran and got a diaper and I had her sit on the potty. She doesn’t care to have her diaper put back on this time. Now to get her to do the other thing on it.

Trash man

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

James is our official trash man as he has been taking out the trash now for about three weeks.  He gets paid for each bag of trash he takes out and it is giving him a way to earn money.

Weariness

Monday, July 17th, 2006

I’m so worn out.  We’re still unpacking stuff.  We finally got the big trash pile picked up, so our driveway is kind of clear.  There are still little pieces of trash out there that need to be picked up.  I’ll send the kids out to do that after dinner tonight when it is cooler.  All I have to say is that I’ll pay them and they will do it.  Never mind that it will probably only be a quarter each.  They think that is richness.

Anyway, I just feel so worn out with everything and keeping up with the never-ending laundry, dishes, and other housework stuff.  I do have to admit though that our living room is looking ok now.  Only ok, because the furniture is all about the same age as I am and nothing matches, but our friends don’t care.  Now if only the dining room could get cleared out.

Noelle and James

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

As I was putting Noelle to bed the other night, I asked if she wanted to say a prayer. She usually answers yes and then proceeds to say this little ditty: “Thank you God for food. Amen” I guess she has just heard the kids so many times at meals praying that she thinks that is a good prayer. They usually have a lot more, but that is one thing that is always in there for the meal prayers. Anyway, she changed it last night.

“Thank you God for Jesus. Thank you God for Mommy. Thank you God for Daddy.  Amen”

It kind of surprised me. James was grinning from his bed and said that he had been talking about Jesus to Noelle and praying with her after I leave. What a sweet brother.

Prayers

For another Julie’s son, 12 yr old Sam, who had a seizure in the night.  You can read her post about it and see how God helped them through it.
