Weird Night

Thursday, July 13th, 2006

I read until about 10:30 last night. (Just for your information, I’m reading “Little Men” by Louisa May Alcott.)  After reading, I had a hard time getting to sleep.  After a while, I was sure I heard one of the girls crying and calling me as if she’d had a nightmare, either Noelle or AnnaBeth, so I got up.  I didn’t hear the crying once I sat up, but figured I’d check anyway.  Not a single child was awake.  I went from one room to the other about three times before I noticed that James was wiggling all about.  I know that wiggle… it means he has to go to the bathroom.  I woke him up and told him to go.  It didn’t take much to wake him, he was already almost awake.  If he was that close to being awake, he would have woken if one of the girls had cried.  I guess I’d finally fallen asleep and been dreaming, but I think it was a good thing I went up there anyway.

Missing Amie

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

With Amie down in NC at my parents’ house, the kids all miss her, but they show it in different ways. James claims that he is always bored without his playmate and best friend. Christine misses her older roommate to talk to quietly at night for a little while before falling asleep. AnnaBeth and Noelle miss her reading books to them or dancing with them. And me. Well, I just miss my girl. Same for Jeremy.

A Paperclip for a House

One red paperclip, a year and fourteen trades later, becomes a house.  The actual trade takes place tomorrow on the year anniversary of Kyle MacDonald’s start in this.

And Then There Were Two

Monday, July 10th, 2006

Kittens, that is. We only have the girls, Tiger Lily and Mittens. The boys were taken to a no-kill animal shelter after waiting three weeks for a responce to the posters I put up. These are the two we are keeping. They keep looking for their brothers and when I fed them, they started eating fast like when there were five of them and they all fought over the food, but realized that they didn’t need to after a while and settled down to eat at a decent rate.

Off topic – the letters to my children are in progress. It is taking a little longer than I realized.

AnnaBeth Funny

A few of the kittens like to sit on our shoulders.  AnnaBeth said, “They like being a chip on my shoulder.”

Letters to My Children

Friday, July 7th, 2006

I’m going to write some letters to my children in the next few days.  I’m going to print them off and put them in a special place to give them when they are older.  I’ll let you all read them.

Our Long Weekend

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

On Saturday, the kids and I left at 7:30 am to travel to St. Louis for my niece, Naomi’s first birthday party.  It was a pool party, so we took the swim suits along.  They have three baby pools.  One which we left there when we moved away from St. Louis about 3 or so years ago.  Anyway, they had all three out.  The kids had a lot of fun.  The largest was filled most of the way and the other two had only a few inches of water in them for the little kids.  After the party, many of the adults and children went to a park to play.  I stayed at the house watching Naomi and Noelle, so they could get a good nap in.  I took advantage of the situation and got a little snooze in myself.  After dinner, we came back home.

Sunday was a regular Church day as in our schedule.  Sunday’s service was very patriotic.  The choir had a medley of songs, about 5 minutes of nonstop singing.  We never sang the national anthem, but the congregation stood up near the end anyway.

On Monday, Jeremy went into work in the morning… to golf with his co-workers.  Then the families joined around 10:30 or 11 am for a picnic and to go fishing.  James had a lot of fun playing with all the other boys.  For a bunch of boys, they were very well behaved.  After the picnic, some friends invited us over to their house.  We had a good time talking.

On Tuesday, I took the kids up to the parade.  There were rain sprinkles falling the whole time, but never any faster.  We were on a corner that didn’t get much candy thrown to it, but that made me happy.  I don’t let the kids have a lot anyway, so it was a relief not to have much to bring home.  After the parade and lunch, I made the kids take a nap so they could stay up a bit later to watch fireworks.  We went back to the friends’ house we were at the previous day for a barbecue.  They had other friends around for this as well.  James was the only one who went outside to watch the fireworks when they happened.  It was still sprinkling some and none of the rest of us wanted to get wet.  The adults all played games and I put the kids down in different places in the house to rest.  James never did fall asleep though.  We didn’t get home until about 1:00 am and he was so ready for sleep when we arrived home.

Anyway, that was our holiday weekend.  I hope yours was as enjoyable as ours was.

To Jeremy

My Dearest Husband,

You are God’s gift to me. Ten years ago, we were getting ready for that all important day, August tenth. Flowers, cake, decorations, even the decision of your tuxedo were deferred to me. You gave me full power over what everything would look like on that day. I always asked your opinion, but your answer was always the same, “Whatever you want because I want you to enjoy the day.” When that day came, I was so excited and happy. I thought it beautiful, but mostly I was thinking about you. Since that day, you have been the one in charge. I have sometimes argued with your decisions and sometimes we’ve discussed them. You have changed a few of them, but I put myself in your protection and under your wing when I married you. You made me happy then, but the love and happiness has just grown through these years.

We have six children together, five whom live here on earth with us and one living with God in Heaven and waiting for us. They are all so special because they are part of both of us. Everytime I look into any of their brown eyes, I see yours. Our son is following you in your geekiness and it makes me smile and even laugh sometimes.

You have helped me to grow as a Christian, both before and after marriage. You lead me in learning more and more how to be more like Jesus. You show our children how important this holy relationship is to have. You answer their questions and delight when they are excited over a story they heard in Sunday School. Two of our children have followed our example and become Christians as well. The joy in knowing that God let us have a major part in that is overwhelming.

Thank you for being the husband and father you are. You are a very special man and always will be.

Love, your Pixie

To my readers, I am writing this now because we will be apart on our anniversary and I wanted to let the world know just how I feel about having 10 years with my man. I don’t think I’ll have much computer access in August, so I decided to write this early.

What Does Your Name Mean?

This is random, so I don’t think it would be so close to everyone’s name.  I thought it was funny how it came up with mine on the first try.  I tried Pixiemom and I really didn’t like what it came up with on the first two times.  I’m not posting those results.

Happy Fourth of July!!

Tuesday, July 4th, 2006

I hope you all have a good fourth of July.  We’re planning on going to the town’s parade and then to a barbecue this evening at a friend’s house where we can see the fireworks tonight from their backyard.
