In other words, I’m very tired. Last night I was up for at least two hours, probably more. Noelle started crying first. I let her cry for a little while thinking she was going to go back to sleep, but she came downstairs. I found her curled up on the bottom stair when I came out of my room. She has a rash and her diaper was dirty. She had come down to get it changed because it was bothering her. I took care of that and then rocked her back to sleep. Just after getting back in bed, our front screen door slammed. It has a tendency to do that if not latched properly. I went out and closed it the correct way. (BRRRR, it was really cold at 1 am even in my heavy sweats!!) It took me a little while to get myself warmed up and settled after that. I read a few pages of the book I’m in at the moment and started to nod off when I heard a noise in the kitchen. The kittens were both in the living room and were just as startled as I was. I went back there and checked everything out, but didn’t find anything. Whatever it was stopped the noise once I turned on the light. I again went into the living room and read a few pages and heard the noise again. I checked under the sink where we’d blocked off a hole where animals had climbed up (that’s another post, with pictures) and it looked as if something had been scratching it. I’m guessing the noises I heard was that. I finally got to bed not long after that and didn’t wake up until the 7 am alarm went off in town. (Have I told you the town still has the old factory alarms?) Anyway, now I’m exhausted. I need a nap today. Thankfully, the kids seem to be eager to get their school work done quickly, so I may be able to get a bit of rest later.

Things That Go Slam in the Night
Wednesday, September 20th, 2006Whoa
Tuesday, September 19th, 2006I’m cold! It went from 81* yesterday to 60* today.
Confused
Monday, September 18th, 2006Yeah, I’m still confused. Other people are questioning whether what I believe is God’s Will for my service to Him is what I should be doing. Right now, I’m continuing in it and will continue unless I’m told to stop or I feel that it is no longer God’s Will. The girl that I have mentored and who has become my co-leader is having the same thing, only it’s a little worse for her because a few people only see her age and not her spiritual maturity. I keep reminding her of 1 Timothy 4:12.
This is really hard on both of us. For those of you praying, I thank you so much.
Just For Whoever Cares…
Friday, September 15th, 2006I’ve been posting a little on my Xanga blog. Not an extreme amount, but I’ve started putting some of my personal Bible study thoughts on it again. I’m thinking of making a lesson out of the latest Proverbs one I did for my youth girls. We’re going to have a girls only time about testimonies soon and I think it can be applied in there as something to strive for as our personal daily living testimonies.
Homeschooling
Friday, September 15th, 2006So far, this is the end of week two of our full schedule. We did two weeks of catch-up/review work before Labor Day which only took about an hour or two each day. It’s going well. Amie and James have gotten all the work done that is scheduled for each day. I’m proud of them. I work with Christine at her own pace and I don’t really have a set schedule for Kindergarten. We don’t start school until 10 am unless they want to start it early. That gives them a little time to play and get the morning energy out before settling down. I have the subjects put into certain times during the day, but they have a choice. They can either work each subject in it’s time slot and have breaks between or go on to the next subject when they are done with each until they are done and have the rest of the day off. They both usually like to pick the latter. The last subject is scheduled to end at 3pm for Amie, 2 pm for James. They are usually done by 1 or 2 pm though. That’s with an hour break for lunch. They aren’t always happy to have to do their schoolwork, but they do it and I’m proud of how they are tackling these times when they really want to do something else.
Please excuse me. I have spelling tests to administer.
Praying
Friday, September 15th, 2006I am praying for the Godfrey family. They have gone through so much. Warning: The link takes you to a story of birth and death. The pictures were what really brought me to tears.
Testimony
Thursday, September 14th, 2006I just checked to see how long ago it was that I posted my testimony on here. Wow! It was almost a year and a half. If you want to read it again or if you haven’t read it yet, than go check it out.
Vehicles
Wednesday, September 13th, 2006We have an assortment of vehicles going past our house everyday, especially in the warmer weather. Some of the vehicles won’t be used once it cools down around here. Many of the people in town work at the factories here. Both my neighbor and the woman behind us ride their bikes to work. I’ve seen many people riding bikes around here. I’d love to get one for me. I think it would come in very handy. Some of the teenage boys and a few girls ride their skateboards to school. Another summer vehicle I’ve seen frequently is a riding lawn mower or a small tractor. It seems that many people will drive one of these around to go to a friend’s house nearby. Also, they drive them from their house to the gas station to fill up and get a soda since it isn’t all that far. A vehicle that goes by my house at least 4 times a day is a horse and buggy from the nearby Amish community. They come into town for the grocery store, feed store, and the Dollar General and sometimes McDs. (Off Topic: We’ve been to McDs at the same time as one Amish family a few times and we’ve become friends. I enjoy talking about my homeschooling with the mother while the kids talk about pets.) Then there are the usual vehicles seen in all towns: cars, pickup trucks, minivans, motorcycles, and UPS and fedex trucks. Quite a few people ride mopeds to get around town. Since it is a farming community, I’ve noticed that there are a greater ratio of pickups to other regular vehicles here than in a city. Now that the crops are being harvested, we’ve had a new vehicle going by. The big trucks filled with corn kernels or soy beans have been going to the grain elevators down the street. The person who lives across the street drives an ambulance. If he’s not out of town during dinner or lunch time, he comes home and parks the ambulance on the side of the street while he takes his break. The police station is nearby, so we see their vehicles often passing as well.
And now that you’re thoroughly bored, you know what vehicles go by my little house on a major street in a small town in mid-Illinois.
Moms For Modesty
Tuesday, September 12th, 2006Click on the picture to go to Everyday Mommy’s original post as well as to leave a comment in support of this. This is a message we would like to get out. This isn’t just for moms either, even though it is called “Moms For Modesty.” I believe it is for Dads, single women who wish to be modest, and single guys who wish to keep their minds as pure as possible.

Oh Wow! You Are 4!!
Friday, September 8th, 2006My dearest AnnaBeth, I can’t believe how much you have grown and learned in the last four years. You are still such a small little thing, but to me you are still growing up way too fast. I’m enjoy having you so much. You love to give hugs and kisses. You dance around the house and sing at the top of your lungs. I love you, my darling. Happy Birthday!
