Christine and Ballet

Friday, January 12th, 2007

Poor girl. She doesn’t like ballet. She wanted to take it so much that I put her in it for this year. By the end of the second month, she was making excuses as to why she didn’t want to be there. I told her that she had to make it through the year since we’d paid for it. This last Monday was her first day back after Christmas break and her teacher told me she was disruptive. I’ve talked to her about it and explained that since we’ve already paid for it and the costumes for the May recital have already been ordered that she can’t back out now. She will have to keep doing her classes, listen to her teacher, and participate instead of joking around. It’s only an hour a week, which she can handle. Once I know a bit about her recital piece, I might have her go over it a bit at home too. She’s a sweetheart and can do it if she tries. I promised her that next year, we’ll see if we can find something she likes better.

TMX Elmo can be amusing to some people.

Potty Training

Monday, January 8th, 2007

I’m getting a bit more strict with Noelle about the potty.  I think she would be happy to stay in diapers for a very, very long time.  She is three years old and knows when she is going to do something.  She can also hold it for a very long time if she wants to.  She has gone many naptimes dry when I’ve put a clean diaper on her before laying her down.  She is just not wanting to stop being a baby.  She keeps telling everyone she is still a baby.  She wants to sit in high chairs because she says that’s where babies are supposed to sit.  She tells me that she is NOT a big girl, so she NEEDS diapers on.  She is old enough to dress herself and even tries to put on her own diaper at night.  She gets close, just can’t get it tight enough, so she comes to Jeremy or me afterwards to make it tight enough.  To me, these are signs of being big enough to potty.  I know that if she makes up her mind, she would be trained in a day.  That is how she is.  It may sound like a weird prayer request, but pray for her potty training that she will stop being stubborn and learn how to use the potty and pray for me to not get frustrated while I’m trying to teach her that she needs to do this.

Pockets

Saturday, January 6th, 2007

With small children, you never know what you will find in your pocket.  We went out to Fazoli’s today to eat dinner.  All the girls, except AnnaBeth, had fetticcine alfredo.  Afterwards, we went to Walmart to grab a few things.  As I reach into my coat pocket to get the money for Amie’s boots (she got them from money from returns we had to make with some of her presents), I found…

… a fetticcine noodle!  Still wondering which one put it in there.  I’m guessing Noelle.

Singing

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

My children love music and singing.  Amie’s penpal from New York sent her a CD this last summer and they were listening to it.  It has “Trading My Sorrows” on it sung by kids.  All the kids were dancing and the older kids were singing the words they knew to it.  Suddenly, Noelle starts singing with it very loudly, “Yes, Lord, Yes, Lord, Yes, Yes, Lord!”  I found what part she knows!  She sure picks up on some of these songs easily.  (She enjoys Mark Schultz’s “Broken and Beautiful” song as well)

Site Problems

or more like server problems.  Please excuse any problems that may happen in the next few weeks and the past week.  I’ve posted a few posts over on my Vox blog while it was down and that’s where I will probably continue to post whenever this blog is out.
