Pneumonia

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

Noelle is sick, my poor baby. Jeremy’s parents are watching them while I’m up here. It must have hit quickly because she was fine and having no trouble sleeping or anything before last Wednesday. Jeremy’s mom called me on Saturday to ask me what I gave her for coughing because she couldn’t sleep very well with all the coughing she was doing. Yesterday, I got a call from the hospital to get permission to give her a blood test and a chest x-ray and later was informed that she had pneumonia. Jeremy’s Dad picked up the nebulizer from our house for her to use. It’s so hard not being with my baby when she’s sick, but I know she’s in good hands.

Have My Lips Back

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Jeremy came down on Friday after I talked to him on the phone. On Saturday, after a bit more cleaning (There are NO clothes in my laundry room!) he brought me back up north.

Mittens is a little freaked out at all the changes that have been going on. First, we are gone a few weekends, then I start packing things away, then her sister and playmate, Tiger Lily, leaves with Jill, then the kids are gone, and now we have brought her up here to a small temporary studio apartment place. She was already acting a little freaked out before we moved her up here with only me at the house, but she’s just been really lovey to me since coming up here and gets upset if we leave for any amount of time, even if it is just to go out to the van to bring something back in here.

I still had a sore throat and small headache yesterday, so we didn’t go church visiting. Instead, Jeremy and I studied the first verses of Isaiah 2. We are planning on continuing our study in Isaiah together that we started in Sunday School a month or so ago. It is such an interesting book and though I read it and learned a lot from it then, I still found much of it confusing to me. I think that with both of us, it will become clearer, though some of it will always remain confusing as it is prophecy that has not been fulfilled yet.

I am also planning on starting an online study of Luke. Once I’m done with this post, I’m going to get my Bible out and read through the first chapter of Luke and post my thoughts on my Xanga site. It is the one I use for my Bible Study lessons. I originally planned for this study of Luke to be with a friend of mine as a way of keeping our communication going and keep encouraging her in her study of the Bible and her fast growing faith. It is still specifically for that, but I am welcoming any of you to put in your comments if you wish. If you don’t have Xanga, you can just e-mail me your thoughts. We are going to try and go through a chapter a week. Sometimes though, a small portion of scripture may take up more time and a chapter may last longer. It is so amazing how much we can learn together as Christians as we study the Bible together. Isn’t it great to be a Christian? I really enjoy it.

Edit to add: I have put my thoughts up on Luke 1:1-25. The way I write things out on the computer to me sounds almost like it came from a Bible study book. That’s not the way I talk about scripture in person during a discussion, though I do speak a bit like this if teaching a class. I think having an online Bible study will be different, but I think I will enjoy it.

Here’s a Better Update

Things have been kind of crazy here, so I’m sitting down to let you all know what all is going on.

On the Friday before Memorial Day, I took the kids up to Indianapolis to my aunt and uncle’s house. My parents were there as well. The kids had a lot of fun walking the paths behind their house and being pulled in the trailer behind the mower tractor until the trailer tipped over. None of the kids were seriously hurt in the accident. Amie got a huge bruise on her hip and Christine had a bunch of scrapes, but that was about all. After a while, I loaded up the girls and headed back home. This is James’s year to go down and spend some quality time with my parents, so they spent the night there and then headed down to NC on Saturday. He’s enjoying hiking, biking with Papa, and going with Grandma while she works at her church. He called me this morning. He told me that Grandma and Papa’s pastor is funny and that he is reading through the book of James in the Bible with Papa (whom my son is named after.)

On Saturday, we had a work day at our house. Jeremy’s parents and Jason came over and helped us get a lot of stuff done in our yard. They pruned bushes and trees, mowed the grass, and made new stairs for the front of our house. They also took down part of the back deck that had started becoming unsteady because of some rotting wood. During that same time, I was doing stuff inside our house. I came out a few times to enjoy the nice weather and sweep off the sidewalk.

On Sunday, I sang a special at church and Christine announced her salvation prayer to our congregation and asked for the opportunity to be baptized there. I started crying at the end of my special because it would be the last time I sang there as a member of the church and I was just thinking of how much I’m going to miss the friends I’ve made there. I have many people who are so encouraging to me and I enjoy getting hugs from many of the older women.

On Monday, Jeremy’s Dad came back and they completely finished the stair railing, except for a bit of staining, and put up stairs at the back of our house where the rotting deck used to be.

On Tuesday, my sister and nieces came up to spend the day with us. It was nice to just have some time to relax with her here. I did a little staining on the stairs and some laundry, but mostly enjoyed the time to visit. They took Tiger Lily and her kittens home with them to watch them until we are moved into a house.

On Wednesday, I packed and cleaned some more inside the house. Jeremy left for Chicago-land around mid-day. The girls and I went to church that evening and the girls left with Jeremy’s Dad to stay at their house, so I can get the house really cleaned up.

Yesterday, I had a friend, Martin, come by to visit. Another friend was here to help me do some cleaning and we got a lot accomplished in the dining room and picked up some trash out in the yard before he showed up. After she left, we went down to my in-laws house to let him see the girls. They overwhelmed him with talking and playing. He was on the floor playing the whole time except for during dinner. AnnaBeth wouldn’t leave him alone and talked non-stop the whole time.

Today, I’m sick. Yuck! I’m getting some laundry taken care of, mostly sheets and towels, but also some clothes from the last few days. I’ve thrown some things into a miscellaneous box, but I think I’m going to take it easy because of how I’m feeling. I have a headache, sore throat, and watery eyes. I FINALLY found a thermometer to check for fever, but my temperature is normal, so that’s good. We have three thermometers, but I’ve packed two of them away. The last one, I had forgotten where I put it until I saw the case for the nebulizer which we need to have kept out, just in case. Oh yeah, I put one in there so it would be available if needed. My brain is just not wanting to work well when I feel like this.
