Finally, Coolness!

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

We had the temp in the low 70s yesterday, which was nice, but our house was still too warm. The windows don’t open enough, too much paint. Anyway, when we got up this morning, the temperature in the house was 60 and I thought it felt great once I had my fleece top on. The high for today is supposed to be 55. I don’t look forward to the cold weather as I really don’t like it. I normally have no problem with the heat of summer, but having no relief from the heat in this house just got to me this last week, especially Monday.

Yesterday’s Produce Mobile

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

We got there about 15 minutes early to see if there was anything we could do to help. There wasn’t anything we needed to help with until the truck got there, so the kids and I went around and talked with different people. The produce mobile didn’t get there until 10:00. It was due at 9:15. We didn’t seem to have any problems with complaints, except that it was getting a bit warm out there. When it came, Amie, James, and Christine got plastic gloves on and helped bag up stuff to hand out and once people started going through the line, they helped give bags out. James felt a little bit in the way, so he came over and watched the two little ones for me while I went to do something. I helped a bunch of older ladies with carrying their stuff to their vehicles. It was lots of fun talking to them. They all were so grateful for this ministry of our church because it helps them to get through each month with fruits and veggies and sometimes other things. Yesterday, they had apples, pumpkins (limited number of them, so only about a third received those), lettuce, bread, snap peas, corn chip strips, and fruit juice. I got extra apples because we still had some left over after everyone had gone through the line. That was good because it is something my kids love to eat.

The next time we have the Produce Mobile scheduled is near the end of the month. Jeremy has the day off of work as a family day, so we are all planning on going.

I kind of got overheated yesterday though. I was out in the sun for about an hour and a half working and then came home to a house with no air conditioning. I had a bad headache for most of the day. I just couldn’t cool off. If I hadn’t had the kids to look after, I would have drawn a cool bath to help, but I needed to keep an eye on them. They seemed to do fine.

Produce Mobile

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Our church has a produce mobile come in and give some food to us to let us give to the community about once or twice a month. We are heading over there soon to help them out a bit today. James helped last time and Amie and Christine are wanting to help this time. I’m going to try and remember the camera this time.

Feeling a Bit Better

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

It’s always good to see some friends. Last night, after Jeremy got off work, we traveled down to his parents’ house. This morning, I had breakfast with Sarah. We talked about Bible study and church and when in the world is she going to be able to come up and visit here with her crazy work schedule. Then, my sister and her husband and daughters come and we visited. After lunch, a few of us went to the storage area to pick up school books (finally!), winter clothes, shoes, and a few other things. After that, we let the fall birthday girls open up presents and then had birthday pies. We settled down and just talked for a while and then had to pack up the presents into the car, eat dinner, and drive back.

The time helped lift my spirits a bit so hopefully, I’ll be back to my regular posting instead of this extremely sporadic stuff.

Pray for me tomorrow. I’m singing a solo special at our new church. I want God to use me as an instrument for His Kingdom.

My Friend is Pregnant!

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

She’s going to be going through a high risk pregnancy, so pray for her. Tell Melody Congratulations! This will be their second child. Their first daughter is five. I’m going to use this as a great excuse to go down to St Louis in the spring. I haven’t seen them since… a very, very long time. I still haven’t met their daughter yet and we’ve really wanted to get together and just have never been able to. I’ll MAKE the time!
