Noelle was mad. She wanted to go to Grandma’s house and stay with Grandma (Jeremy’s mom.) I think she may have overheard me saying something to Jeremy about letting one of the kids go there sometime soon.
It was a good visitation and funeral. Grandma Anna’s old body looked good, but I’m so glad she has a new one with none of the aches, pains, and diabetes. We celebrated how wonderful she was and the fact that she is now in Heaven with God. She was a very vocal Christian and worked in many positions in the church and WMU (Women’s Mission Union, I think). Even after she was no longer able to go to church, she would study her daily lesson, read her Bible daily, and pray for all her family. She was an inspiration to many and God used her in so many ways.
I enjoyed helping take care of her when we lived there. She would sit and tell me lots of stories from when she was little and later when teaching in the church. She loved all my kids a lot, but she would have spoiled Noelle if we’d let her. She was so happy that Noelle was so small as a baby because she was able to actually help me out by holding Noelle often. Even after Noelle got older, she learned to climb up into Grandma Anna’s chair and sit on her lap and would fall asleep up there. Many times they’d nap together in the afternoon. Grandma Anna liked to slip Noelle food from her plate, usually pieces of her cookies or small spoonfuls of pudding. She encouraged me with the kids and loved when they would play in the living room where she could watch them. After we moved out, whenever we came to visit, the two little kids would come in and climb up in her lap and tell her all kinds of things.
It’s so hard to try and write about her because I can’t really put into words what she was like and what I felt about her. I’m so glad God gave me the opportunity to be around her so much.
I will miss her, but I also know that someday I will see her again.
