A few weeks ago, a flyer for a rent-to-own house was up at our church. We called the guy up and went to see it. It was a bit small and we weren’t sure, but some circumstances were happening that made us unsure how much longer we would be able to stay here, so we filled out the application, but with the experience we’ve had with other people not wanting 5 children in their homes, we didn’t expect much.
Last Monday, Memorial Day, was my friend, Sarah’s birthday. I headed 2 hours south to meet her and a friend of hers. Before I got all the way down there, I stopped because there was a gas station with gas that was still under $4. (It’s been around $4.20+ up here in Chicago-land.) I hopped out to get the gas and then afterwards, went to get back in the van… uh oh! It’s locked, with the keys inside. Jeremy is without vehicle 2 hours away and the only other one with a key. After a nice guy who worked at the gas station tryed unsuccessfully to unlock it for me, I called an emergency locksmith. In the meantime, Sarah and M had drove up to wait with me. It was only about a mile or so from where we were meeting anyway. Sarah, M, and I were just joking and talking while we waited. Then after the locksmith came, we headed to the mall and walked around and just talked. We made jokes about some of the clothing styles we saw on the racks in the stores and just generally had fun. Then we headed to Applebees. Since it was Sarah’s 21 birthday, we did the nonalcoholic way of celebrating. She got a non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri and we had dessert shots… chocolate mousse in a shot glass. It was yummy! While there, another of her friends showed up and then we headed out to go bowling. We are all bad bowlers, but you know what… that makes it really fun. After 2 games, we all headed to our homes. It was such a good girls’ day.
Then, I spent the next two days trying to catch up on laundry, dishes, and some other general housecleaning.
On Thursday, Martin came up to visit. We mostly just sat at the house and talked, with the kids doing the majority of the talking. They enjoy telling him some of their imaginary stories and stuff because he really enjoys listening to them. He treated us to McDs and then afterwards, they all acted crazy while eating popsicles, so he could do his video of them.
On Friday, the rent-to-own guy called me up. We were approved to live in one of his houses. He said that since we told him that we didn’t want to move and plan on buying whatever place we move into that he remembered that he had another house that was just being moved out of and that it would be better for us because it was a bigger house with a bigger yard. We went to see it on Sunday and since we were already approved by him, we told him that we would take the house. It is so beautiful. We are now in the process of packing up the stuff in this house and will be moving stuff over starting next weekend. I’m so excited. I’m so tired of moving, moving, moving and will be happy to stay in one house for a long time. Pray for everything that has to happen between now and Friday to let us do this.
Anyway, other than all of this, we’ve had schoolwork and going through winter clothes and summer clothes and finding those that we’re going to throw out or give to a thrift store. We’ve also been enjoying the warm weather and gone on a bunch of walks. Please excuse my absence if I’m gone for a while. Not only will we be moving, but we also have our vacation that we had already planned and payed for coming up, starting Tuesday, June 10, and going to be gone for about a week.
I hope to see some photos of this beautiful house you tell us about. God bless your path.
