I love the Smoky Mountains. I grew up down here, except that we lived on the TN side back then. It’s so beautiful. Snow on the tops of the mountains and fur trees and laurel putting a nice green color below the snow. We went to the Christmas Eve candlelight service at my parents’ church. It was nice, though I had a slightly restless baby on my lap. Noelle had a toy lion she was playing with to help keep her happy, but she got kind of loud at times. We sat up front because my Dad was reading scripture. Everyone around us enjoyed her though, so it wasn’t as bad as I thought. They all said how much they enjoyed listening to her talking and it didn’t distract them from the service.
Have a good night and I hope your children (if you have any) wake you at an hour when the sun is barely over the horizen to sing “Happy Birthday, Jesus!” before tearing into the presents you’ve so carefully wrapped.
I started a family tradition with my daughters a few years ago. We bake a birthday cake for Jesus and decorate it on Christmas Eve. At o-dark-hundred-hours on Christmas morning, we light candles on the cake, sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Jesus, then do something we only do one time all year. Eat cake for breakfast!
Blessings to you and your family this Christmas.
