Wow! Jeremy outdid himself this year

My birthday present from him FINALLY got here. First, the one he ordered was no longer being made, so he changed his order. That one was out of stock and had to be backordered. I was getting impatient. I had no idea what he’d gotten me and I was going crazy waiting for UPS to deliver it. He was losing patience himself and was ready to cancel the order and try to find one locally when it came…

A mountain dulcimer!! Teardrop shape. I got it tuned and am already playing a few tunes on it. It’s such a pretty sound.

For those who don’t know already… my hobby is collecting and learning different musical instruments. I don’t have many yet, but I’m working on them. I can play piano some, but don’t have one. Good thing since we really don’t have space for one right now. I have a flute, guitar, and a peruvian ocarina. I’ve wanted a dulcimer for quite a while. It kind of goes with my heritage too… I grew up in TN, in the Appalachian Mountains. The pictures here are of the hourglass shape, not teardrop, but you’ll get an idea of what it looks like. I’ll show you mine when I can upload it.

Wow! I’ll say he outdid himself! What an awesome present. The professor of my college music class collected instruments also. If I ever get the chance to go back to the Philippines and head for the mountains in the north, I’ll buy you a nose flute. It’s played just like it sounds!
